Matthew Hurtado

Originally from Castroville, Texas, Matthew Hurtado currently resides in Osaka, Japan working at Universal Studios Japan as a full-time trombone performer.

DCI experience includes marching Crossmen (09-11) and The Blue Devils (12-13) Drum and Bugle Corps as well as being on staff for Crossmen in 2019.

Hurtado is an active performer in the Osaka and Yokohama area. He is a trombone player for “Youhei+THE NEW INCENSE”, a live city pop band in Osaka, a euphonium player for the Toyonaka Youth City Wind Orchestra and a member of the Yokohama Euphonium Ensemble, the country’s oldest euphonium ensemble and supported by the Japanese Government.

Additionally, Hurtado is also an active music arranger and composer, writing music for various outside performances that Universal Studios Japan cast members put together in an effort to collaborate and create engaging performances for the Osaka community.

Hurtado is also an educator, working with The Yokohama Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps and was an international school music teacher in the Yokohama area prior to moving to Osaka.
